SDL Trados is a computer assisted translation suite for windows. It includes SDL Trados Synergy 2007 Client, SDLX 2007, SDL Trados Translator's Workbench 8.0, SDL MultiTerm 2007, SDL Trados WinAlign, and SDL Trados TagEditor and Filters. All of this applications serve a different need. Although I couldn't possibly start to enumerate all the features of these products here, I am trying to give out a little description of each of them. The most basic one is the Workbench. With it, you can create a translation memory that will help you translate terms that repeat themselves throughout a text, or sentences (segments) similar to others. SDLX offers a side-by-side approach to the use of the Workbench, with the source text on one side and the target one on the other. TagEditor is great for translating .xls files and presentations of any kind that have tags in them. Even web pages can be opened with TagEditor. This suite is a must-have for any serious translator and is demanded for most translation jobs. However, everything good comes at a big price, and this suite isn't the exception. Also, this application requires a good, modern computer. It will definitely slow your computer down if you don't have at least 2GBs of RAM. |
